ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) — Two things just about anyone can get behind, dogs and alcohol. And Small Dog Rescue of Minnesota put the two together Saturday night for their first ever “Barks and Brews”

The event used to be known as the “Wine and Chocolate Spectacular,” it helps bring in their largest amount of fundraising through the year.

Small Dog Rescue works to rescue and rehabilitate dogs that weigh 20 lbs and under, while finding them new homes of love.

Saturday night’s event featured several local breweries and wineries, each providing tastings of their selection.

“It’s the best feeling. It’s kind of like when you watch your kids grow up and leave the house, it’s like you’re so proud of them, just to see that they’re kind of leaving the nest again,” said Alissa Adamson, a Small Dog Rescue Volunteer.

Small Dog Rescue doesn’t have a facility. It uses volunteers homes to foster the dogs until they find a new home.

They can always use more volunteers, to learn how to volunteer with the group, you can click here.
