One killed, one injured after explosion at Hancock County business

BRITT, Iowa (KTTC) –  One person is killed and another injured after an explosion at a Hancock County, Iowa business.

According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, crews responded to an explosion at Miller & Sons Golf Cars in Britt just after 9 a.m. Wednesday.

First responders performed CPR on 62-year-old Gary Olson.

He was taken to a local hospital, then flown to the University of Iowa Hospital, where he died that afternoon.

An owner of the business, Mark “Skip” Miller, fell while trying to help Olson, hurting his head.

He remains hospitalized at last check.

The Sheriff’s Office says a metal barrel, used to hold oil, ignited, causing the explosion.
