AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) – As the start of the school year inches closer, the Austin community is making sure schools have some extra supplies for kids on their way in.

A donation from the Kiwanis Early Risers Club and Faith Church of Austin is meeting that need.

The “Kids Closet” is stocked with clothing items that a student might need in a pinch, like if their clothes got dirty or if winter gear was left at home.

The program chair said $500 will be given to each elementary school for their kids closet program, as well as $500 to the local Head Start program.

$2,000 is being donated from the Kiwanis Club, and $1,500 is coming from Faith Church of Austin.
