ORONOCO, Minn. (KTTC) – Home prices are on the rise in southeastern Minnesota.

The median sales price of homes is up nearly 10 percent since last year, according to the latest southeast Minnesota Realtors report.

Many who work in larger cities where property values continue to increase are turning to mobile homes as a possible solution for affordable housing. Oronoco Estates near Oronoco is seeing that trend first hand.

“Especially when you’re trying to raise a family and be in a good neighborhood, the cities is just so expensive and Rochester is getting so expensive, and the crime is almost getting out of hand in most of those bigger cities,” said Kami Fritz, the community manager at Oronoco Estates. “Where, here, they’re willing to drive, just to be in a safer more affordable home.”

The park currently has 136 lots and is developing 40 new lots by the end of the year with 3 bedroom mobile homes for $985. They expect to reach capacity next year.
