ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) — It’s the season of giving thanks for all that you have in your life, while helping others who don’t have as much.

Sunday afternoon, Girl Scout Troop 47865 and Caring Acts of Kindness Everywhere (C.A.K.E) kicked off a food donation drive of Thanksgiving meals for families in need at the Crossroads & West Circle Drive HyVee locations.

The Girl Scouts were busy greeting each shopper at the door with a wish list of items needed. While customers shopped, they picked up some of those items on the list and filled over 20 shopping carts of supplies.

One Girl Scout wants everyone to hear this piece of advice: don’t be afraid to ask for help.

“I know sometimes when you feel like asking for help shows weakness, it doesn’t. Because sometimes it shows bravery,” said Girl Scout Addy Gore. “Just knowing they’ll get something to eat this Thanksgiving warms my heart.”

Last year, Girl Scout Troop 47865 and C.A.K.E packed 175 meal boxes.

If you’d like to help, Crossroads & West Circle Drive HyVee locations are allowing customers to make cash donations at the register until November 20.
