ST. PAUL (KTTC) – Early December marks a little over a month before the new budget is in effect.

Minnesota law requires two forecasts a year and the next will be in February.

Ten months ago, experts projected the state to have a $329,000,000 surplus for the two-year period starting in 2018-2019.

This forecast played a big role in how the state legislature shapes policy.

After the Management and Budget office makes its projection Thursday afternoon, Governor-elect Tim Walz will share his reaction along with democrats in charge of the House.
