Lifetime registered sex offender arrested in Kasson for sexually assaulting a minor

KASSON, Minn. (KTTC) – A man in Kasson was arrested on Wednesday in Dodge Center after an investigation led to his involvement in sexual assaulting a minor.

Michael Davis, 34, met the victim at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kasson. Davis was a young men’s leader at the church. He was titled “President Davis-Elders Quorum President” and was reportedly responsible for the men and young men’s group.

On March 4, Dodge County Investigator Brumfield received a report from MN Prairie County Alliance regarding a traffic stop with Davis involved.

Davis was pulled over for not wearing his seat belt. The Sergeant that pulled him over learned that he was a registered sex offender and that a prior victim was a juvenile male.

Then, on April 1, Investigator Brumfield received a call from AMT that stated a 13-year-old boy had been sexually abused by Davis.

The victim reported that the two met at church, and later started to hang out at Davis’ home.

According to the criminal complaint, the two were wrestling when Davis touched him inappropriately. Davis continued to do more extensive sexual acts to the juvenile.

Officials revealed that Davis is a lifetime registered sex offender due to a previous conviction in Utah involving a minor.

Davis is being held on a $200,000 unconditional bail/$100,000 conditional bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m.

Davis has been ordered to have no contact with anyone under the age of 18. He is not allowed access to internet either.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s office reminds the public that organizations with activities involving children should be conducting criminal background checks on any adults, paid or volunteer, that are allowed to have contact with children.
