ALBERT LEA, Minn. (KTTC) – Fire crews got the first call to the scene around 8:50 Monday night and they remained on the scene until 1 o’clock Tuesday morning to make sure the flames were under control.

A number of agencies assisted on scene, including Hayward, Glenville, Hollandale and Austin fire departments.

In a press release, authorities say it took about an hour to gain control of the fire and they stayed for three more hours afterwards to extinguish hot spots and monitor flammable liquids inside the building.

No employees were inside the shop at the time and there are no reported injuries.

The Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s office is assisting the investigation into what caused the blaze but that is on hold for now.

“We currently ceased that investigation because we’re going to wait for the insurance company investigators to come down Thursday,” said Albert Lea Fire Department deputy chief Jeff Laskowske. “Hopefully we’ll have it finalized by the end of the week, early next week, and know what the cause and origin of the fire is.”

The total damage estimate is still being tallied.

For now, caution tape surrounds the charred building until the investigation can be completed.
