ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) — Rochester dads spent their day out at the ball park, taking in a game between the Honkers and Bismarck Larks.
It was also Father’s Day with KTTC, where dads got into the game for free with a paid family member. They also got to participate in “Dad Olympics” for a chance to win a new lawn mower.
Normally it’s the dad’s doing all the grilling, but they traded in their own burgers for some ball park hot dogs.
Several fathers KTTC spoke with say they love coming out and watching baseball to celebrate the day with their family.
“My wife played softball, I played baseball, we love the sport and I don’t think you find much more of a family atmosphere,” said dad, Billy Pierce.
While another dad, Ryan Criddle said, “It’s nice, because growing up we would do stuff with our dad and we would go to anything that’s going on. They like it and yeah it’s really not more complicated than that.”
The Honkers sent all the dads home happy on Sunday, defeating the Larks 10-2, behind Ryan Middendorf’s 7 strong innings, giving up only 1 ER. Seth Nelson lead the Honkers charge offensively, tallying up 3 RBI, while Ryan Wrobleski, Tristan Peterson, and Craig Shepherd each had 2 RBI.
