ZUMBROTA, Minn. (KTTC) – Conway and Avonne Marvin are marking 75 years together.

From Zumbrota and Kenyon, the two first met at a football game in high school.

They shared their reasons for why they believe their marriage has lasted so long.

“I guess you’d have to say love. We’ve also been fortunate and had not terrible problems,” said Avonne. “It’s been a wonderful time together.”

“Don’t get into too big of a fight with the old lady.” advised Conway.

“They continue to remain relatively low key and work their way through it. They both are religious.” said the couple’s youngest son, Paul.

The couple first bonded on a train as they headed out of town. Conway was on his way to serve in World War II and Avonne was going to work in a manufacturing facility in Connecticut.

Both were surprised and happy to be among so many of their loved ones including their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
