AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) – For those overseas in the military, receiving something from back home is always special.

The Austin Employee Well-Being Champions are collecting toiletries, personal care items, clothing and games for veterans and active-duty service members in Freeborn and Mower Counties. The items will be sent in care packages to U.S. Army National Guard members.

“We just wanted to make sure that the troops know that we support them. We want them to have what they need and maybe a little bit of things they don’t really need but want and don’t normally get in the field,” said Lisa Haase of Austin’s Mayo Clinic Health System management analytics.

“Pringles, things like that, you just can’t get over there. It’s really nice to hear things from back home, especially if you get a package. That will bring spirits up, I’m sure,” said Mower County Veterans Services Officer Wayne Madson.

Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin is still taking donations through Wednesday.
