ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Rochester’s movie scene received an upgrade for this edition of Throwback Thursday.
In 1936, construction began on a movie theater that boasted a 420-seat auditorium and the latest projection equipment.
The Time Theater, located at 15 Fourth St. SE. would be Rochester’s new ultra-modern theater.
To promote what it considered another step in the building of a greater Rochester, the Rochester Chamber of Commerce planned a two-day trade event leading up to the grand opening.
Merchants got in on the promotion by making puns using the word TIME in their advertising and more than 75 downtown merchants placed “Time to Buy” signs in their windows.
