ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – The Rochester Mountain Bike Team spent Tuesday evening raking, brushing and leaf blowing the bike trail at Eastwood Park.
It’s the first of many trail clean ups of the season.
The team works hard to maintain Eastwood Park and Gamehaven Reservoir bike trails – not only as a community service – but also ensuring team safety and prepare for practices and races starting in July.
In addition to taking care of trails, the team also is working with the Rochester Athletic Sports Club to build more trails at Gamehaven Reservoir.
Tuesday night, the team geared up for their “Try-It-Out Session” on Wednesday. It’s open for any student from or around Rochester who would like to give the sport a try. All you have to do is bring a bike and helmet and register online here.
“Mountain biking is an individual sport and within our program, its all inclusive, no one sits on the bench,” team coach and director Marian O’Donnell said. “You’ve got the option: if you want to race, you can, if you don’t want to race, you don’t have to. But you can ride with the team.”
Team practices will start up in July with their first race at the end of August, and wrap up its season by the end of October.
