Kitchen fire forces Rochester apartment evacuation

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Rochester firefighters evacuated the Gage East Apartments on 40th Street Northwest Wednesday night because of a kitchen fire.

Fire crews got the call a bit after 7 p.m. to a second floor unit. The fire triggered the sprinkler system and RFD crews were able to finish the job.

There were no reported injuries.

“Some folks will be able to get back in tonight the fire room is still under investigation but a lot of the folks will still be able to get back in their homes tonight,” said RFD firefighter Josh Petersen.

There is no word yet on how much damage the fire caused.
