UPDATE: suspect at the center of I-35 incident identified

UPDATE: The Worth County jail roster identifies the suspect as 52-year-old Moses Cruz. He was charged with Eluding, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and interference with official acts and booked into the Worth County Jail.

ORIGINAL STORY:

NEAR NORTHWOOD, Iowa (KTTC) – A chase and later negotiation lead to the closing of Interstate 35 near Northwood, Iowa Tuesday afternoon.

The Minnesota State Patrol says it started with a chase that ended a few miles south of the Iowa border along the interstate around 2 p.m.

This man was arrested after the incident on I-35 Tuesday afternoon.

We’re told MSP along with the Iowa State Patrol, and Worth County Sheriff’s Office were involved with negotiations with the driver. They eventually took the driver into custody just before 4 p.m.

Nobody was reported injured, and I-35 is back open.

 

Authorities arrested this man in the incident, but are still working to identify him. He is currently in custody at the Worth County jail. He has not yet been charged.
