KENYON, Minn. (KTTC) — State funds have been awarded to Kenyon in an effort to spur economic development and create quality jobs.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, or DEED, granted Kenyon $672,096 to help with a new business park, according to DEED.

The funds will assist with water, sewer and electric utilities as well as street construction for the park, DEED said.

The project is expected to create 60 jobs in five years.

Kenyon City Administrator Mark Vahlsing said construction for the new business park will hopefully begin late this year or early 2020.

Kenyon was one of five greater Minnesota cities to be awarded a grant.
