Stolen car leads to pursuit in Northwest Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Rochester police are looking for a male suspect after a stolen vehicle chase ends in a crash in Northwest Rochester.

Police said a woman left her 2019 Chevy Equinox unlocked and with the keys inside, when she parked on West Center Street at 5:30 Monday night. When she returned about two hours later, the vehicle was gone.

About an hour later, officers found the vehicle at 19th Street NW and 26th Avenue NW. Police tried to stop the driver but the suspect took off. A chase ensued through 19th Street and Assisi Drive.

The chase ended at Elton Hills Drive and 22nd Street NW. That’s when the driver rear-ended another vehicle into the front yard of a home on the 2200 Block of Elton Hills Drive.

The suspect took off on foot and escaped southbound between two houses. He escaped despite a K9 search.
