LIME SPRINGS, Iowa (KTTC) – At about noon Tuesday, the suspect walked into the Cresco Union Savings Bank on West Main Street and showed a gun.

The armed robber did not injure anyone but did get out with an unspecified amount of cash.

According to the Cresco Times Plain Dealer, a customer who was on the phone with one of the bank employees at the time of the robbery made the 911 call.

Howard County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call and and reviewed bank surveillance video to get a lead on the suspect.

That suspect was later caught in Austin, Minnesota and is now in police custody.

The bank is providing counseling for employees who were distressed by the event.
