New contender enters 1st District congressional race

ST. CHARLES, Minn. (KTTC) — There’s a new contender in the race for the 1st Congressional District’s DFL nomination.

58-year-old Ralph Kaehler of St. Charles is throwing his hat in the ring. In a campaign announcement Tuesday, Kaehler says he’s a fourth-generation family farmer and businessman.

“I am not a politician. But I’m so fed up with the lack of real work being done in Washington that I’ve decided to get off the sidelines and take action,” said Kaehler.

He’ll be facing Dan Feehan, who lost to now Rep. Jim Hagedorn in 2018.

The primary is on Aug. 11, 2020.
