Owatonna’s Jason Williamson Named Minnesota Gatorade Player of the Year

OWATONNA, Minn. (KTTC) –¬†Earlier today, Owatonna Huskies Running Back Jason Williamson was named the 2018 Minnesota Gatorade Football Player of the Year, winning the award in back-to-back seasons.

He becomes just the second player in state history to win the award twice — with the other player being former NFL first round pick Michael Floyd.

Williamson rushed for more than 3,000 yards this year, scoring an absurd 46 touchdowns, leading Owatonna to it’s second consecutive 5A Prep Bowl title.

In January, Williamson will enroll at the University of Minnesota, where he will play football for PJ Fleck.

He’s also one of 11 Mr. Football Finalists, with the winner being announced December 16th.
