ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – The Grizzlies opened their main camp today at the Rec. Center with 40-to-50 hopefuls trying to impress new head coach Chris Ratzloff and make the 2019-2020 Grizzlies roster.
In their inaugural year last year, the Grizzlies completely changed the culture of junior hockey here in the Med City, winning 32 games and bringing a much-needed jolt of energy to a previously lifeless Rochester Rec. Center.
Earlier tonight, I caught up with their new head coach and talked about the weekend ahead for the second year franchise.
“I think we’re going to be a good team. We’re going to have a lot of skill and compete hard every night,” said Ratzloff. “It’s going to be a fun team to watch this year. Fans can come out this weekend. [Camp] is open to the public, so they can come see the All-Star game on Sunday morning from 9:30 to 11. It’s going to be probably a pretty good representation of what kind of hockey we’re going to have here this year.”
