Colder air is blowing in today; sunshine and a slow warm up are ahead

A cold front is moving through the area today, unleashing the coldest air mass of the season so far. After a few flurries, we’ll have increasing sunshine as high pressure approaches from Canada, but temperatures won’t warm much thanks to some relentless northwest winds that will hover near 20 miles per hour through much of the day. High temperatures will be in the mid and upper teens this afternoon with wind chill values only around zero so be sure to bundle up.

Temperatures will bottom out just below zero tonight with a lighter breeze under high pressure. It will be the second time this season in the sub zero category, but the first time this month.

Friday looks rather cold as well, but with more sunshine and lighter winds that will turn to the southwest, beginning the warming process. Look for high temperatures in the upper teens tomorrow afternoon which is about 15 degrees below the seasonal average.

The weekend looks cold, but pleasant with plenty of bright sunshine, light winds, and high temperatures in the 20s.

A slow warming trend will carry our high temperatures to the lower 30s by next Wednesday and the only precipitation chance will be very light snow or snow showers on Wednesday with a fair amount of sunshine in the surrounding days.
