Mild sunshine today; a glancing blow of wintry weather to start the weekend

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00
We’re rounding out the work week today with some really pleasant weather for mid January standards as warmer air continues to work its way into the region to go with a healthy dose of sunshine. We’ll have at the very least filtered sunshine through the day with thickening cloud cover in the afternoon and evening as a storm system approaches from the southwest. High temperatures will be in the lower 30s with a slight south breeze this afternoon.

That storm system will stay well south of our area tonight as it brings several inches of snowfall to southern Iowa and Missouri. A few spots of freezing drizzle and perhaps some flurries will be possible after midnight with overnight temperatures in the 20s.

There will be a chance of just a little freezing drizzle and flurries early Saturday, mainly in north Iowa, otherwise it will be a cloudy, chilly day with afternoon high temperatures in the lower 30s and a brisk northeast breeze.

The weekend looks to end on a pleasant note with sunshine breaking through by the afternoon and high temperatures will again be in the lower 30s with a light south breeze.

We’ll have sunshine and high temperatures in the mid 30s for Monday and Tuesday of next week before we drop off to the 20s Wednesday through Friday with just a slight chance of light snow possible to round out next week on Friday.
