Hot and muggy weather is back just in time for the weekend. Dew points will continue to climb into the upper 60s and lower 70s making conditions a little unbearable outside. High temperatures for both Saturday and Sunday look to be in the middle and upper 80s. Some communities could be closing in on 90° by Sunday afternoon.
With the hot and muggy conditions, come the chances for scattered thunderstorms this weekend. Isolated thunderstorms are possible early Saturday and then we should clear conditions out through the afternoon.
As the atmosphere builds moisture through the daytime hours Sunday, a couple of scattered thunderstorms will be possible. A widespread severe threat looks low at the time for southeastern Minnesota Sunday, but a couple of discrete cells could be on the stronger side.
The humid conditions extend into next week as well. Highs Monday through Friday next week will be in the middle and upper 80s with thunderstorm chances almost every day next week.
I don’t think this forecast will be a washout by any means. Widespread thunderstorm activity is not expected. Long range model guidance does not show a cool-down for the rest of the month. Looks like we could be stuck in this pattern for some time.
Have a great weekend!
